No injuries have been reported after a gas leak near downtown Emporia on Monday morning.
Emporia Fire crews were dispatched to 902 Market just after 9:30 am. Fire crews on site said Kansas Gas had called the fire department to report a gas company crew had allegedly hit a gas line near the house. However, Kansas Gas spokesperson Dawn Tripp says the line was hit by a third party, not Kansas Gas.
Repairs are currently underway and an investigation has started. Three intersections — Market at Ninth and 10th, as well as Ninth at Union — are blocked until further notice. Emporia Fire crews on site said the house at 902 Market was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
