The Emporia Recreation Commission’s monthly meeting was held on Monday and supported a full agenda ripe for healthy deliberation.
Hosted in the Lee Beran Recreation Center, the hour-long meeting saw precedence go to different facility updates around town. Among the updates discussed, replacement of the Center’s air handling units required the quickest action. Rec Director Tom McEvoy talks about this necessity.
The DeBauge Family Sports Complex has been having runoff and drainage issues for years. To fix this, a flume is in talks to be installed and the current estimate by the City Engineering Department is around $16,000.
The Rec’s Outdoor Maintenance Compound is scheduled to be replaced. McEvoy on the current plan:
The meeting concluded with discussions on revisions of Section A policies that resulted in a tabling until the next meeting. The Rec Board will meet again September 16th at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
