Retirement is now less than 10 days away for Rhonda Gordon.
The Family and Consumer Sciences agent at Lyon County Extension will formally retire at the end of the month, and she says her retirement plans may revolve around volunteering.
Gordon also says she plans to enjoy her daughter’s senior year in high school and spend more time with her parents.
Gordon is retiring after 11 years in her current position and over 13 years with Extension. During her time at Extension, Gordon was the lead organizer for Walk Kansas. She also helped to revive the Keep It A Safe Summer event after that went dormant for several years and relayed information whenever the Senior Health Insurance Counselors for Kansas made their annual appearance in town. In addition, she spent a lot of time in area schools with nutrition information.
A retirement reception is from 4-6 pm at the Lyon County Extension Office, 2632 West Highway 50. RSVPs are requested by calling 343-7713.
