A new ad campaign is underway announcing the change of Westar Energy to Evergy.
Last June Westar Energy and KCP&L merged into a single entity with the corporate name becoming Evergy. Media Relations Manager Gina Penzig says at that time they knew they would extend the new brand to utilities.
According to Penzig since the merger was completed a team consisting of Evergy’s marketing, IT and customer service departments have been working towards making the transition as smooth as possible for customers.
With the merger having been in place for the past 14 months Penzig says customers will have already noticed some changes. This includes providing rebates to customers related to merger savings.
She says this is only the beginning as the merger will allow the company to bring some of the efficiencies that larger companies can achieve.
According to Penzig, not only will the name change be occurring but there will also be some changes made within the company as well. She says there will be no layoffs associated with the merger, however, some employees may find themselves in new positions.
The new ad campaign is anticipated to run through the next six weeks. Penzig says they expect to make the transition to Evergy fully by the first week of October.
The company is serving 1.5 million customers in Kansas and Missouri.
