Fair weather provided a comfortable environment for the Walk to Defeat ALS this morning (SAT) where huge numbers of community members came to show their support.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly called ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that reduces the functionality of muscles. Danny Williams, who lives with ALS expresses his gratitude for the support.
There is currently no cure for ALS, but events like this nationwide help to fund the expensive effort of solving this mystery. Longtime event organizer Gary Ace talks about how much these events mean to him.
Ace reports preliminary totals for the fundraiser at nearly $30,000. For more information on ALS and to find out how you can get involved in the cure efforts, visit www.alsa.org.
