All counties in the KVOE listening area are in a severe thunderstorm watch until well after midnight.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a watch for Lyon and all surrounding counties until 3 am Friday. Hail up to 2 inches in diameter, wind gusts up to 70 mph and frequent lightning are the main concerns.
On top of that, the KVOE listening area is in a flash flood watch until 1 pm Friday. Storms could dump 1-3 inches of rainfall with higher totals also possible.

4:30 pm Thursday: Slight risk of severe weather for entire KVOE listening area; all area counties in flash flood watch
The entire KVOE listening area is now in a slight risk of severe weather with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected overnight.
The National Weather Services estimates between midnight and 8 am Friday as the likeliest timeframe for severe weather to develop locally. All hazards are possible, although hail and wind are the main severe weather risks. Heavy rain is also possible.
Due to the possibility of heavy rainfall, a flash flood watch has been issued for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 10 pm Thursday through Friday afternoon. Separately Chase and Greenwood counties have been placed into a flash flood watch until 1 pm Friday.
8:30 am Thursday: Strong storms, heavy rain possible overnight
Thunderstorms are expected overnight, and some could be strong to severe.
There is a marginal-to-slight risk of severe weather from around midnight to 8 am Friday, with the slight risk along and north of Interstate 35 and US Highway 50. The marginal risk is currently south of those highways.
All hazards are possible, although hail and wind are the main severe weather risks. Heavy rain is also possible.
More showers and storms are possible late Friday night through early afternoon Saturday, with additional storm activity possible early Sunday.
