An Emporia man has a preliminary hearing Wednesday on a series of charges, including aggravated burglary and aggravated battery, after an alleged incident a year ago.
Michael Koy, 29, faces charges after a woman reported Koy grabbed her legs at the top of a flight of stairs and she fell during an argument, according to court documents provided to KVOE News. The woman also said Koy kicked her during the incident. Besides the burglary and battery charges, Koy is also facing charges of criminal restraint, stalking and violating a protection order.
Koy was sentenced in 2016 to 18 months in federal prison for his involvement in a carjacking incident in Topeka. He was also sentenced in Lyon County in 2010 for drug possession.
Wednesday’s hearing is at 10:30 am.
