Now that Labor Day has passed, a number of city residents have asked just how long the new splash pad in Peter Pan Park will remain open. That question has been answered — and families have a few more days to enjoy the splash pad season.
The Parks Department says the splash pad will remain open daily until 8 pm Sept. 15.
The splash pad made its debut May 22 and has been extremely popular, although usage estimates are not immediately available. The facility was funded by official park funds, public donations, a grant from the Jones Trust and earnings from the Kahola Lake Fund held by the Emporia Community Foundation.
There is no word yet on when the 2020 season will run.
