The Detroit Tigers out scored the Kansas City Royals Thursday afternoon 6-4 avoiding a sweep.
The Royals scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning on a Whit Merrifield single and Adalberto Mondesi double. The Tigers scored 6 unanswered runs before Hunter Dozier scored on a groundout in the 8th.
The Royals now head to Miami to play the Marlins Friday night.
