Afternoon appears to be our best time for showers and storms across the KVOE listening area, including some possibly severe weather Thursday.
Areas along and east of the Kansas Turnpike, including Emporia, are in a slight severe weather risk today, with a marginal risk to the west. TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says a cold front will trigger storms across the area. He also says storms won’t last long once they arrive.
Wind gusts as high as 70 mph look to be the main concern, with hail to the size of quarters and brief heavy rain also possible.
