Funeral services will take place next week for longtime Emporia law enforcement officer Lane Ryno, who passed away Monday at the age of 69.
Ryno was born in 1949 in Emporia and worked in law enforcement for 36 years. He spent most of his career with the Emporia Police Department, rising to the rank of sergeant and serving with the department’s Special Response Team as part of his duties. He also served on the Lyon County Courthouse Security team.
Ryno was active in the Emporia Masonic Lodge No. 12, including the Shrine’s Mini-T unit. He was part of the Emporia Camera Club and played in several bands.
Ryno is survived by his wife, Brenda, as well as a son and daughter.
Visitation will be from 5-6 pm Sunday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 am Monday at Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
