Relay for Life of the Flint Hills generated solid fundraising totals and a range of emotions at the Bowyer Community Building on Saturday.
Longtime event organizer and cancer survivor Cherie Crisp thanked the area for its support, both for the event itself and for cancer patients and their families or caregivers. She says the event is emotional for her and for all involved.
Crisp tells KVOE News proceeds help patients and family members have peace of mind during treatment cycles.
Survivor dinner organizer and cancer survivor Melanie Curtis was grateful for her family support, as well as the support of other cancer patients and the American Cancer Society.
The preliminary total is over $34,000, with more to be counted in the next few days.
