The Emporia Fire Department is currently looking into the cause of a tractor fire which developed in west Emporia Tuesday evening.
Emporia Fire and Lyon County EMS responded to report of a tractor fire at 30th and Graphic Arts shortly around 5:45 pm. According to deputies on scene, a John Deere 8320 tractor was traveling northbound on Graphic Arts Road when other motorists noticed fire had developed within the engine compartment.
The motorists alerted the driver who pulled over and exited the tractor unharmed. Fire crews had the flames out quickly and no injuries were reported.
Acting Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Schmidt tells KVOE News the tractor’s operator reported they had been running the tractor throughout the day with no issues. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
