Dynamic Discs and Timmerman Elementary are teaming up once again to benefit two local families.
The third annual Timmerman disc golf tournament will be taking place at Hammond Park Saturday afternoon. The annual event has helped Timmerman provide donations for diabetes research and the United Way of the Flinthills in the past.
This year all proceeds from the tournament will benefit Ace it Up — for the family of the late Ace Garate — and the Samples family as their son Hunter is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a tumor on his optic nerve. Organizer and Timmerman Elementary teacher Kayla Olivier says participation in the tournament has grown steadily each year.
The cost to participate in the tournament is $25 for pre-registering at Discgolfscene.com or $30 for same-day registration at the event. Those who register will also receive a player pack which contains a Timmerman stamped disc.
Check-in and registration begin at noon Saturday at the Hammond Park Pavillion. A disc golf clinic by Dynamic Discs will take place at 12:30 before the tournament officially begins at 1:15.
