Emporians are encouraged to give blood and honor the memory of the late Mackenzie Payne this weekend.
The blood drive will be from 11 am to 5 pm Sunday at Flinthills Mall next to the B&B Theatre.
Before she was killed in Wichita in June 2018, Payne — an Emporia High graduate — was planning to attend medical school at the University of Kansas. She was also a receptionist at Newman Regional Health.
Walk-ins are accepted Sunday but appointments are preferred. To set an appointment, go online to www.redcrossblood.org, download the Red Cross blood donor app or call 800-RED CROSS. Regardless of the appointment method, residents are encouraged to use the sponsor code MackenziePayne.
