Live performers serenaded the ears of racers with music during the New Life Church’s 4th annual Make a Joyful Noise 5k on Saturday.
Make a Joyful Noise is a 5k race put on by the New Life Church. The 5k features a total of 16 live performers spread throughout the race.
The idea for the Make a Joyful Noise 5k came from how the event organizer, Melissa Herring, listened to worship music while she ran.
Many runners came for a variety of reason. Some runners go to the New Life Church and heard about there while many others, like runner Shaun Bouley, heard about it through the Emporia Middle School’s wellness program.
This year’s Make a Joyful Noise 5k raised money for the upkeep of the Community Blessing boxes, the Emporia Christian school, and William Allen White School.
Fundraising totals will be announced later
