Just a day after welcoming their new daughter to the world, Caleb and Bethany Tegtmeier found themselves the center of attention for a special celebration Wednesday.
Newborn Nellie Tegtmeier was made the 100,000th book recipient from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library with a ceremony being held in the fourth-floor lobby of Newman Regional Health Wednesday morning. According to Bethany Tegtmeier, their family are no strangers to the benefits of the Imagination Library as their eldest daughter has been a part of the program for almost two years now.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was established in the local community back in 2013 and currently, over 1,700 children from birth to age five throughout Lyon, surrounding counties and Woodson county currently receive a new book each month.
Wednesday’s celebration was made all the more special as the 100,000th book was presented to the Tegtmeier family by the program’s first local recipient six-year-old Raelyn Ewing. Outgoing United Way Director Jami Reever says seeing Raelyn make the presentation truly personifies how far the program has come in just six years.
Raelyn’s mother Brooklyn says the program has been and will continue to be a great benefit for her daughter throughout her life.
Along with the 100,000th book, the Tegtmeiers also were presented a bunny and book from the Read to Your Bunny Program and a $100 Walmart Gift Card from the United Way.
