USD 253 staff, board members and stakeholders provided input on the early learning facility discussion during Wednesday’s board meeting.
Through the utilization of Thoughtexchange, a digital crowdsourcing platform, those in attendance were able to share their thoughts on the most important concepts for the district to consider throughout the construction process of a new early learning facility. The anonymous platform revealed several common themes amongst the participants including a desire for additional space to accommodate both staff and student needs, which has been a recurring topic of conversation since talks of a new facility began earlier this year.
USD 253 Superintendent Kevin Case believes the anonymous platform allows individuals to be more open with their thoughts towards early learning and the construction of a new facility.
The next step in the process will be for HTK Architects to compile the data to help identify and prioritize the most common themes to aid in the conception and design of a new facility.
On a related note, the district is organizing a team consisting of staff, administration, and board members for a series of site visits to early learning facilities in other communities. The tours are tentatively planned to take place on Monday, Oct. 14.
The Emporia School Board will reconvene for its next meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 pm inside the Mary Herbert Education Center.
