A Council Grove teenager was hurt in Thursday’s crash north of Americus.
Lyon County Deputy Jody Meyers says 18-year-old Andrew Irwin was driving an SUV southbound on Road F, also known as Americus Road, when he went off the road about four miles north of Americus at 7:45 am. Irwin overcorrected twice, first sending the SUV onto the road and then swerving back into a ditch where the vehice hit a barbed wire fence and overturned.
An ambulance took Irwin to Newman Regional Health with what authorities say are minor injuries. Irwin was wearing a seat belt.
9 am Thursday: Crash near Americus sends one person to Emporia for treatment
One person has been transported to Newman Regional Health after an injury crash north of Americus on Thursday.
The wreck was reported just before 8 am in the 2800 block of Road F, or four miles north of Americus. Emporia Fire says one vehicle was involved but additional details are pending. The person’s name has not been released.
Traffic was constricted to one lane for around 30 minutes but is now back to normal.
8:15 am Thursday: Injury crash reported near Americus
Deputies and emergency responders are at the site of an injury crash report north of Americus.
The wreck was reported just before 8 am in the 2800 block of Road F. Traffic is currently down to one lane around the crash site. All other details are pending at this time.
