Habitat For Humanity is looking to add some flavor to the weekend with a new fundraiser.
The first annual Building with Barbeque competition is taking place at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Bowyer Building Saturday afternoon. The public is invited to attend the event from noon to four and sample some of the delicious food which will be cooked up by over 10 different competitors.
Emporia Area Habitat for Humanity Vice-President CJ Shown says there will be six categories for competitors to take part in.
While the event is free and open to the public, people’s choice plates will be available for $10 which gets you a plate and ten tickets to vote on your favorite food. All proceeds will benefit the Emporia Area Habitat for Humanity.
Other activities — including face painting and inflatables — will be available during the competition as well.
Shown and Habitat for Humanity wish to thank their numerous sponsors for helping organize the event including Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating plant and the Jane and Bernard Reeble Foundation. For more information go to visitemporia.com.
