The Olpe Eagles overcame a slow start to defeat the Jackson Heights Cobras 28-14 Friday night.
Jackson Heights opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 10 minute 69-yard touchdown drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by senior Cooper Williams. Olpe would answer back with a 4 yard run by junior Jordan Barnard to tie the game in the second.
A 57-yard touchdown run by Williams and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Olpe senior Damon Reddeker to senior Dawson Soyez would leave the game tied at 14 heading into the locker room. The second half belonged to Olpe as junior Kinden Robert would score two touchdowns from 6 and 9 yards out to take the lead for the Eagles.
Olpe would close out the game following a brief lightning delay picking up the 28-14 win.
Robert led Olpe in rushing with 69 yards and two touchdowns. He says they made some big adjustments at the half.
Olpe head coah Chris Schmidt says his team handled the early adversity well.
Jackson Heights was led by Cooper Williams with 120 yds rushing. Olpe had 231 yards of total offense while Jackson Heights had 190 yards.
Olpe now improves to 4-0 on the season as Jackson Heights falls to 2-2.

The Marais des Cygnes Valley at Waverly game was halted and will resume on Monday with Waverly leading 46-18 with 4:45 to play in the 3rd quarter.
The Mission Valley at Council Grove game was also halted and will resume on Monday with Council Grove leading 14-7 with 1:29 to play in the 3rd quarter.
