A risk of severe weather for the KVOE listening area did not materialize Saturday as it did Friday.
Thunderstorms developed, but they produced isolated small hail instead of the quarter- to half-dollar-sized hail that hit several parts of the listening area Friday night, including Emporia.
Heavy rainfall was the other main concern Saturday, especially in Chase and Coffey counties after more widespread heavy rain Friday night. Rain totals so far:
*KVOE studios: 0.30 inches Saturday, 2.3 inches total for Friday and Saturday
*Municipal Airport: 0.07 inches Saturday, 1.47 inches total
*East Emporia: 2 inches Friday
*Northeast Emporia: 2 inches Friday
*Southeast Emporia: 2 inches Friday
*Bethel Corner: 2.5 inches Friday
*Allen: 1.3 inches Friday
*Americus: 1.75 inches Friday
*West of Americus: 1.9 inches Friday
*Cottonwood Falls: 1.2 inches Friday
*Hartford: 0.20 inches Friday
*Neosho Rapids: 0.70 inches Friday
*Near Reading: 2.7 inches Friday
*Strong City: 1.25 inches Friday
Showers and embedded thunderstorms may move across through the area through late Sunday morning. No severe weather is expected. However, the rest of the week looks quite unsettled with numerous chances for showers and storms beginning Tuesday. Heavy rain is possible at times through next weekend.
