The Emporia State soccer team out scored Fort Hays State 2-1 to open MIAA play with a win Sunday.
MacKenzie Dimarco scored in the 11th minute of play to give the Lady Hornets the early lead.
Tana Benefiel added a goal in the 73rd minute of play to give the Lady Hornets a 2-0 lead.
With the win the Lady Hornets are now 6-2 for the season and 1-0 in MIAA play. They will host Missouri Western Friday.
