The Emporia State volleyball team could not hang onto leads is losing to Fort Hays State in 4 sets Tuesday night.
Fort Hays won the first set 25-22 after closing out the set with a 6-3 run.
Emporia State won the 2nd set 25-17.
Fort Hays used a 6-1 run to close out the 3rd set to win 26-24.
Fort Hays won the 4th set 25-22 using a 14-1 run to erase a 6 point Emporia State lead.
Emporia State out hit Fort Hays 57 kills to 54 kills. Coach Bing Xu said they need to be more consistent.
Shelby Ebert had 13 kills, Jessica Hayes had 12 and Yuchen Du had 11 kills and 26 assists. Emma Dixon had 27 assists and 12 digs.
Rylie Fornelli had 27 digs.
The Lady Hornets are now 4-9 for the season and 0-5 in MIAA play. The play at Central Oklahoma Friday and Newman Saturday.
