Emporia State’s Tanna Benefiel has been named the MIAA Womens Soccer defensive player of the week.
Benefiel anchored a Hornet defense that allowed only seven shots on goal in two wins last week with the only goal scored against coming on a penalty kick. She also scored the game-winning goal against Fort Hays State when she pressed up and scored on a header off a corner kick in the 73rd minute.
The Emporia State soccer team will host Missouri Western Friday and Northwest Missouri
State on Sunday.
