Thursday night Emporia State University’s Albert Taylor Hall featured a positive speaker with a powerful message.
Brenda Tracy – the voice behind the Set The Expectation campaign and sexual assault survivor – uses her story to raise awareness for the growing issue of rape and sexual assault. In 1998, Tracy was sexually assaulted by four collegiate football players during a night out with friends.
Tracy spoke before members of the Emporia State Athletics Community including players and coaches. Tracy says it’s important for her to share her story to help inspire future generations to take a stand against sexual assault.
After the presentation, Emporia State Head Football Coach Garin Higgins spoke with KVOE News saying Tracy’s presentation carried an important message about respect.
Emporia State football player Gary Woods II agrees and explains the importance of even the smallest acts of kindness.
Thursday’s presentation was a collaborative event between ESU and SOS. For more information pertaining to Tracy’s Set The Expectation campaign, visit Settheexpectation.com or find Tracy on social media @BrendaTracy24.
