Overnight storms soaked some residents in the KVOE listening area while leaving others with nary a drop.
A line of storms covered roughly half the area, staying along and southeast of the Kansas Turnpike. That led to a wide variance in reported and estimated rain totals:
*KVOE studios: trace
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.01 inch
*Between Hartford and Olpe: 1 inch
*Hamilton: 1 inch
Estimated rain totals of around two inches in parts of Greenwood County prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning for the east-central part of the county. The warning was canceled several hours early.
This is the second straight day of rainfall for parts of the area. The KVOE studios got 0.35 inches of rain Wednesday, with the airport picking up 0.30 inches. Hamilton received 3 inches of rain Wednesday.
6:30 am Thursday: Flood warning up for part of Greenwood County
Parts of the KVOE listening area south of Emporia could see flooding Thursday morning.
A flood warning is underway for east central Greenwood County, including Virgil, until 11:15 am after an estimated two inches of rain from overnight.
