The Lebo Wolves pulled out the win 28-26 over the Chase County Bulldogs in a back and forth affair Friday night.
Chase County would strike first with a two-yard touchdown run by senior Cael Budke in the first quarter. Lebo would answer back with a 15-yard fourth-down touchdown pass from quarterback Devan McEwen to sophomore Kyle Reese to take the lead before a 35-yard Trint Rogers touch down run would give the bulldogs a 14-8 lead heading into the half.
Lebo would retake the lead to start the third quarter thanks to a 28-yard touchdown run from junior Andrew Bailey. The Wolves and Bulldogs would trade the lead three more times before a 29-yard pass from McEwen to freshman Luke Davies would set up a one-yard touchdown run from Bailey giving the Wolves the lead.
Lebo would recover the ensuing kickoff and kneel out the game to pick up the victory. McEwen led the Lebo offense with 167 passing yards and two touchdowns.
McEwen says the win will help propel the Wolves forward through the remainder of the season.
Wolves Head Coach Brian Hadley says it was a much-needed win.
Chase County was led by quarterback Cael Budke with 125 rushing yards. The Bulldogs had 249 total offensive yards. Lebo had a total of 270 total yards of offense.
With the win Lebo improves to 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in district play. Chase
County falls to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in district play.
