This is a busy week at Emporia State University.
It’s Homecoming Week, and Director of Alumni Relations Jose Feliciano says it’s a time for celebration.
Activities officially start Wednesday with the traditional tricycle races, which will start at 7 pm at Kellogg Circle.
Thursday’s activities include the first run of the Homecoming musical “Little Women” at 7:30 pm at Bruder Theatre. At the same time, the Sam and Jeannene Hayes Lecture will feature diversity and inclusion consultant Michael Gonzalez at the Memorial Union Webb Hall. “Late Night at White,” the preseason buzz event for Emporia State’s basketball teams, will go from 6-8 pm at White Auditorium.
Friday’s schedule is full. Some highlights include the start of the Phi Delta Theta annual pole sit to benefit SOS, along with the KSTC luncheon, several sports reunions and activities, student bonfire at 8 pm at Wilson Park and the Black & Gold Gala, which starts with a reception at Webb Hall at 6 pm.
Saturday kicks off with the Athletics Hall of Honor breakfast at 8 am at Webb Hall. In addition to alumni games for softball, volleyball and baseball players, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the Kossover Family Tennis Complex at 10 am. The Homecoming parade starts at 11:30 am in downtown Emporia, leading up to the Homecoming football game against Central Missouri at 2 pm.
The final performance of “Little Women” closes down Homecoming events at 2 pm Sunday.
