Emergency dispatchers from several jurisdictions will come to Emporia this week for a special training session.
“Survival Skills for Dispatchers” will take place Thursday and Friday in the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office basement. The training is designed to give dispatchers tools to both avert post-traumatic stress disorder and maintain solid mental health.
In addition to that training, a free partner-spouse class will be offered Wednesday to help family members support their first responders. The partner-spouse class is open to dispatch families in Lyon and surrounding counties and will be from 6-9 pm at the Sheriff’s Office.
Rescue 1 Colorado will lead the training sessions.
