(esu) There was a good turnout for the Emporia State basketball teams Late Night at White Thursday night. Fans got a chance to preview this years additions of the Lady Hornets and Hornets basketball teams.
In the womens scrimmage Freshman Tre’Zure Job, who missed last season with a knee injury, scored 11 points to lead the stingers to a 19-10 win over the Hornets.
Coach Toby Wynn called it a good experience.
In the mens scrimmage Zac Owens had seven points to lead Team Hornets in a 26-23 victory. Keyon Thomas had a scrimmage high nine points for Team Stingers.
Coach Craig Doty its what the team needed.
Lady Hornet Molly Mounsey won the three-point contest, hitting 19 of 25 from behind the arc in the final round. Hornet Keyon Thomas was the musical chairs winner, beating Emporia State track & field sprinter Jazmin Williams for the final chair. Brenden Van Dyke won the dunk contest with a perfect score on his first attempt when he went over two teammates for the dunk.
The Emporia State men play at Kansas State next Friday.
The women play at Oklahoma State October 27th.
