Unemployment numbers in September were, well, extremely low.
In Emporia, the jobless rate was 2.8 percent, down from 3.5 percent in August. The Lyon County rate was 2.9 percent, down from 3.6 percent the previous month.
Chase County had a 2-percent jobless rate, the lowest in the area and among the lowest in the state. Coffey County had the highest at 3.9 percent, but it also had the biggest monthly drop of 1.4 percent.
Across Kansas, the jobless rate held steady at 3.2 percent.
