Students at Chase County Elementary had to shelter in place for a short time Friday after an incident inside the school.
Sheriff Richard Dorneker was called to the school shortly before 9 am after a student allegedly knocked down bookshelves and tables inside the library. Everything was back to normal in under 15 minutes.
Dorneker is not releasing the student’s name and Superintendent Glenna Grinstead says she cannot comment on the situation because it is a student matter. The student was taken to the Chase County Sheriff’s Office and then turned over to his mother.
A decision on formal charges is pending in this case.
