Madison emerged victorious in the battle of the Bulldogs with a 62-18 victory over Chase County Friday evening.
Madison would open the scoring on the game’s opening drive thanks to a 14-yard touchdown run by senior Colton Fife. Fife would add both a 64 and 15-yard run to put Madison up 22-0 before Chase County would strike with a 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cael Budke to senior Blaise Holloway. Madison would answer back to take a 30-6 lead into the locker room.
Chase County would strike first in the second as Budke would connect with Holloway from 21 yards for Chase County’s second score of the game. The Bulldogs would add one more touchdown off a 75-yard kick return by Holloway, but four more touchdowns by senior Nassun Wasson, quarterback Ryan Wolgram and Fife would put the lead out of reach.
Fife led his team with six touchdowns and 203 yards. Fife gave all the credit to his offensive line. Junior offensive linemen Issac Miser says communication was key to their success.
Despite the win, Madison head coach Alex McMillian says there are a lot of things they need to clean up heading into the playoffs.
Madison ended the night with 485 yards of total offense while Chase County had a total of 211 yards. With the win Madison closes out the regular season 8-0 while Chase County ends the regular season with a record of 4-4.
