The academic achievement of Emporia High School students was on display during a special recognition ceremony Tuesday morning.
28 EHS students were recognized for being in the top 10 percent of their class as part of the KU Honors Scholar Program. In addition, EHS also recognized senior Connor Hauff (HOW-ff) who was recently named a 2020 Commended National Merit Scholar.
This places Hauff in elite company as only 34,000 students — out of roughly 1.5 million — are recognized with this distinction. Following the ceremony, Hauff spoke with KVOE News and shared some important advice with his fellow Spartans as they continue their high school journey.
EHS Principal Dathan Fischer says the 28 students recognized Tuesday are a very special group with an average GPA of 4.16 and ACT score of 24. Fischer says their student’s success does not just happen overnight.
An additional recognition ceremony for the 28 honors students will be taking place next Monday evening at 7 pm at the high school.
