One of two people accused of burglarizing several Emporia businesses earlier this year will spend over two years in prison as a result.
On Thursday, Judge Lee Fowler sentenced Nicholas Allen Hall to a total of 31 months, including 17 months for burglary at Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal and seven months each for theft at TP Jewelry and Pawn and for criminal damage at Mr. G’s Car Wash, 716 East 12th.
Fowler’s decision aligned with a prosecution request for aggravated sentencing, based in part on the number of businesses involved and the amount of pre-planning before the incidents in May. Defense attorney Brian Williams had requested standard sentencing, which would have led to a 28-month overall sentence.
Hall pleaded no contest in September. He apologized to the business owners in a short statement before his sentencing.
A co-defendant, Lesli Fontenot, is set to be sentenced Tuesday on two conspiracy counts after the incidents at Kari’s and TP Jewelry.
