If your children are a bit more lethargic than normal Friday, it’s understandable — especially if they hit some of Emporia’ Halloween hot spots Thursday night.
Once again, attendance was heavy as the David Traylor Zoo held its annual Boo in the Zoo showcase. Kids and parents were lined up well before the event started. Kids were excited to see different animals, whether they were in the zoo or not…
Parents, meanwhile, appreciated the chance to see the zoo in this setting.
Also busy was Flinthills Mall for its annual Malloween. The mall was filled with a variety of activities including a haunted castle, ring toss, and trick or treating. However, one thing stood out to trick-or-treaters like Andyn Perez:
The Rural Street corridor was packed with kids seeking candy.
Part of the festivities there was a special event held by the Locard Society of Emporia State University’s Forensic Science program, which accepted donations of pet items for the Emporia Animal Shelter. Totals are pending.
In addition, numerous local churches had trunk-or-treat events for the kids.
