Community members, veterans, and students gathered outside of Emporia State University’s Plumb Hall for the ESU Flag Celebration on Saturday.
Emporia being the founding city of Veteran’s Day dedicates much of the month of November towards honoring U.S. Military service members.
Along with music, several veterans gave heartfelt speeches about their service, how it feels to be a part of the city’s activities, and other delicate topics such as suicide rates among veterans. Mayor Jon Geitz and ESU student Michael White were among the speakers.
Emporia will have All Veterans Tribute activities for the following weeks.
