The Emporia Farmers Market hosted its annual Soup-A-Palooza fundraising event on Tuesday.
Farmers Market Coordinator Jessica Hopkins describes Soup-A-Palooza as a way to encourage community fellowship while supporting the farmers market and its vendors.
Unlike more traditional setups, the Emporia Farmers Market operates year-round. The organization also uses outreach events such as Soup-A-Palooza to keep in touch with the community during the colder months.
Proceeds from Soup-A-Palooza help the farmers market offset operating expenses as well as host their special shopper programs. These programs provide extra market bucks for kids and low-income shoppers.
