Road construction has been approved for part of US Highway 56 northwest of Emporia.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a bid from Smoky Hill LLC of Salina for a special construction project between Council Grove’s eastern city limits to the Lyon-Morris county line. Project details, including the scope of the work and its timing, have not been released.
Smoky Hill’s bid was over $582,000.
