The gratitude of local citizens for the service of our veterans will be on full display Saturday morning.
The annual Quilts of Gratitude presentation will be taking place as a part of the weekend contingent of All Veterans Tribute activities. This year’s presentation will be in a new location as Rosetta Fields with Quilts of Gratitude says they have outgrown their original location at American Legion Post #5.
Fields says this is due to the ever-growing number of attendees for the ceremony each year.
Fields says each year there are several moments which take place during the ceremony that “warms your heart” and this year will be no different.
Fields says each of the quilts is “made with love” for every veteran whether the quilters have met them or not.
Organizers began transporting the quilts Friday from their previous location at the Emporia Public Library, where they have been on display the past several weeks, to the Bowyer Building to set up for Saturday’s presentation. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 am.
