It now appears it will be Monday at the earliest before the Emporia Fire investigation into a house fire Thursday night will be completed.
Fire damaged a home at 405 Congress, with firefighters seeing smoke coming from the eaves before discovering fire on the first floor and the attic. Emporia and Olpe firefighters put the fire out quickly. No injuries were reported.
The cause and origination point are still under investigation at this time. A damage estimate has not been announced

Emporia Fire is currently investigating what led to a minor structure fire in south Emporia on Thursday evening.
Crews were called to the vicinity of West 5th Avenue and Congress Street for a reported structure fire shortly before 9 pm. Emporia Fire Batallion Chief Eron Steinlage tells KVOE News once they arrived in the area crews discovered heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a residence at 405 Congress.
Upon entry, firefighters discovered fire on both the first floor and attic space and quickly extinguished it. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
A damage assessment is currently pending, however, no injuries were reported. The Olpe Fire Department also responded to the scene.
