The winners of the 2019 All Veteran’s Poster and Essay contest answered a very important question during this year’s competition, “How do you Honor Veterans?”
Area students from grades 5-12 each offered their own answer to this question either in written word or through festive poster design. For her poster, High school winner Mallory Kueser of Olpe chose to paint a picture from a photograph of a former classmate and local veteran visiting the Vietnam Memorial on a past honor flight trip.
Kueser explains why she chose that moment in time as her subject matter.
Seventh-grade essay winner Lucas Shepherd’s essay focused on how he honors all of the veterans within his own family. He says it felt amazing to win.
High school essay winner Jenne Dieker of Olpe High School says it feels great to win, but even better to do it while honoring our servicemen and women.
