Bitter weather conditions did not slow down the progress of 25 community organizations taking part in the annual Emporia Community Foundation Matchday.
Once again this year’s fundraiser offers local residents two avenues for making a donation to local organizations both in person at Flint Hills Mall or online at www.Emporiamatchday.com. ECF Program Officer Loni Heinen was pleased with the turnout, despite temperatures in the low 20’s and blustery wind conditions altering the schedules of several Veteran’s Day activities earlier on in the day.
Heinen says the annual fundraiser is no simple task to pull off.
People can come to the mall to donate through 7 pm and donate online through midnight. On top of the charitable donations of local individuals to specific groups, all participating organizations also receive a portion of the $60,000 matching pool provided by the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund, Jones Testamentary Trust, Hopkins Foundation, Reeble Foundation, Preston Family Trust and Trusler Foundation.
Totals from the fundraiser will be announced during the annual check presentation ceremony on Dec. 3. KVOE will broadcast the ceremony in its entirety on KVOE 1400 am, 96.9 fm and KVOE.com.
