The Emporia State mens basketball team won their home opener, outscoring Kansas Wesleyan 87-59 Tuesday night.
Emporia State held a 40-25 lead at halftime. Kansas Wesleyan used a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to 6 points. Emporia State would go on a 22-8 run including scoring 12 unanswered points to take control of the game. Jumah’Ri Turner led the offense with 16 points.
Duncan Fort, Keyon Thomas, Zac Owens, Brenden Van Dyke and Justin Williams each scored 11 points. Coach Craig Doty said it felt good to pick up their first win.
The Emporia State men return to action Thursday when they host Tabor.
