An investigation continues after a cattle-hauling semi crashed northeast of Emporia early Saturday.
The currently-unnamed driver said his southbound semi was pushed off the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 137, 10 miles northeast of Emporia, shortly before 2:15 am. The semi driver did not hit the second vehicle, but he lost control of his rig — which went off the shoulder and rolled onto its side.
The driver went to Newman Regional Health by ambulance for possible injuries. There were 32 head of cattle on board. The Kansas Turnpike Authority has no report of whether any cattle died in the wreck.
