The Emporia State football team closed out the regular season with a 34-14 win over Central Oklahoma Saturday.
Coach Garin Higgins said the win was for the 17 seniors who played in their final game.
Dalton Cowan scored on a 2 yard run to give the Hornets a 7-0 lead. Cole Schumacher caught a 23 yard pass for a touchdown just before halftime to give Emporia State a 17-7 lead.
Wil Amos caught a 37 yard pass for a touchdown. Clark Schoonover kicked 2 fieldgoals. Tre’Vaun Ammons recovered a fumble for a touchdown for the final score.
Lawson Holbert had 2 interceptions to finish the season with 7 for the season. Gee Stanley also had a fumble recovery.
The Hornets finished their season with a 4 and 7 record.
