Emporia city commissioners have a full agenda for their action session Wednesday night.
Commissioners may formally establish the Pleasant Point Rural Housing Incentive District along and south of Seventh between Elm and Oak. These incentive districts capture all the incremental property taxes created by a housing development project for up to 25 years and then reinvesting that money into improvements like site preparation, sanitary or storm sewers, sidewalks or water mains.
Infrastructure matters will dominate the rest of the meeting:
Commissioners may pass an ordinance to issue up to $800,000 in general obligation bonds for repairs to the South Arundel Street sewer main. Separately, commissioners could accept a permanent drainage easement between the city and Crestview Lakes 6 Association in northwest Emporia. And a contract extension agreement with Coffey County Rural Water District No. 2 is up for a vote as well.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
