The Emporia State womens basketball team wrapped up their road trip to South Dakota with a 77-68 loss to the University of Sioux Falls Tuesday night.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 13-6 lead but was unable to hang on the rest of the night. They trailed 18-17 at the end of the 1st quarter and 31-30 at halftime. In the 2nd half Emporia State trailed by as many as 11. The Lady Hornets struggled scoring shooting only 32 percent from the floor.
Coach Toby Wynn says it goes deeper then poor shooting.
Mollie Mounsey and Morgan Lauden led the Lady Hornets in scoring with 15 points each. Jessica Wayne added 13 points. Sioux Falls shot 52 percent from the floor and were led by Kaely Hummels 19 points.
The Lady Hornets fall to 3-2 for the season. They return home to host Bethel, Monday night.
