Drivers in downtown Emporia can expect some traffic adjustments next week.
The city is installing a new water main on West Sixth between Commercial and Merchant. There will be two phases of work, but Sixth Avenue and Commercial Street traffic will remain open through the use of lane shifts. There will likely be closures at the Merchant Street intersection.
Drivers are told to be cautious while in the work zone.
Work begins Monday. The city has not said how long the project could last.
